Sheikh Shomali shared some really gentle ways to hold Munajat Sha’baniyyah close to our hearts. He reminded us that this Munajat is a therapy for the broken-hearted, and a refuge for anyone who feels they’ve lost hope in Allah’s mercy. It’s truly a healing balm for the soul, something to turn to when our spirituality feels low or unsteady. One simple practice is to choose a short passage that touches you and sit with it for a week… recite it, reflect on it, let it carry you through whatever you’re facing.
He also suggested we create a little collective space together and maybe a sisters’ reading circle, where we can recite, reflect, and share what touches our hearts. There’s something so beautiful about learning from each other’s light.
This intimate Munajat isn’t limited to Shaban; it’s timeless. The Imams themselves carried it throughout their spiritual journeys. It’s an ocean of hope and love, always there when we long for closeness with Allah (swt).
One line that really melts the heart is:
فقد هربت إليك و وقفت بين يديك
“I have fled to You and now stand humbly in Your presence.”
This captures the essence of our bond with Allah swt running towards Him and standing before Him with all our brokenness and all our love. No matter how near or far we feel, He always listens.
Sheikh Shomali also reminded us that a true believer lives in hope of Allah, and spreads hope to others. Let’s let this Munajat be our wellspring of hope, healing, and connection — and share it with one another as a treasure from the Ahlulbayt (a.s.).
