Lady Zaynab s.a. is truly an apex of moral and spiritual consciousness-
By Sis Nasim Walji Pirmohamed

Having witnessed the epic day of A’shura and the fateful eve of Shame Ghareebah, tents of the women and children being looted and burnt, they were roped in chains and made as captives; she along with our 4th Holy Imam Sajjad a.s. and the orphaned children together with other prominent women paragons had to endure so much more to keep the True message of Islam alive.
At the most dreadful and the most atrocious time, when she was asked by the tyrant Obaydullah Ibn Ziyad in the court of Kufah how did she find the slaughtering of her beloved brother Aba Abdillahil Husayn a.s for which she responded with so much confidence and certitude:
و ما رأيت الا جميلة
“And I saw nothing but beauty of God”
Sayyida Zaynab s.a.
This statement is truly a timeless journey for humanity to embark upon in order to unravel the Zaynabi dimensions.
She is imbued in the love for her Rabb, Allah swt and her Surrender to God can fully be perceived when we ourselves can take a deeper look into ‘Zaynabi Soul’.
From the time she opens her eyes into this world, she is on a journey of ordeals and adversities. But she just doesn’t settle for any less and she doesn’t ask why! She is fully immersed in the monotheistic Tawheedi God; ‘La Ilaha Illa Allah’, she traverses, journeys the path of faith, surrender, resilience and servitude to God through her humanness.
She goes through these human experiences just like what we go through every single day. But we find her immersed in her love relationship with Her Rabb, her spiritual epiphany at its peak manifests on the Day of A’shura when she stopped at the severed body of her beloved brother, Imam al-Husayn (a), and expressed her firm faith by saying:
اَللّهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا هَذا الْقُرْبَانَ.
“O Allah, accept this offering from us.”
These words have been the best example on the sublimity of the prophetic inheritance. They also showed the reality of Islam through the lesson that each sacrifice must be purely offered for Almighty Allah’s sake.
Her female power is attached to a higher calling, a celestial and divine movement whereby millions of hearts soar towards that timeless journey during Arbaeen of Imam Husayn a.s. in Karbala.
Plugging into her sublime and feminine power will help us to find this inner beauty in our daily struggles. This intrinsic love and volition towards her school of thought will help us re-align our roles as women who are struggling everyday and seeking that comfort and some sort of validation through other women or perhaps finding that temporary buzz through instant gratification.
Allah swt hails such Godly men and women. How we mould and shape our reality in our ‘soul’ and how Qur’an alludes to this soul transformation in verses such as:
(33:35) Surely the men who submit (to Allah) and the women who submit (to Allah), the men who have faith and the women who have faith, the men who are obedient and the women who are obedient, the men who are truthful and the women who are truthful; the men who are steadfast and the women who are steadfast, the men who humble themselves (to Allah) and the women who humble themselves (to Allah), the men who give alms and the women who give alms, the men who fast and the women who fast, the men who guard their chastity and the women who guard their chastity, the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember Allah much: for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and a mighty reward.
Lady Zaynab s.a. personifies this beauty. It is for us as individuals and as communities to sail through this this path of God’s Beauty.
As women; we are so blessed to be manifest this Jamaali phenomenon! As many of us journey through life as wounded healers, we need to infuse ourselves in loyalty, compassion, we thrive in empathy, love, we forgive, we move on, and as caregivers and caretakers we nurse emotional wounds, we cultivate souls, we irrigate purity and nurture our families and communities.
Women especially within our Muslim communities are battling with ‘real’ life challenges. Issues relating to our Mental Health, those women who are undergoing all forms of domestic violence, bullying, Islamophobia and Hijabophobia are real issues!
Apart from earning a livelihood and tending to the needs of the family, women play significant role especially in the post modernism. Mums who are caregivers and act as ‘Rabbatul Bayt’ are constantly struggling and it is quite difficult to go through daily storms in parenting our children and life in general. However; let us take some comfort by turning to Sayyida Zaynab a.s. She speaks to each one of us. She is reachable. We need to talk to her, believe me she understands our trials and pain. Find solace through her struggles and gain back that inner power.
As female agents, we need to find comfort in having a love relationship with our Merciful Rabb Allah swt. Above all, Allah swt knows our pains and trials. Let us find Peace through Him.
Humble Reflections,
Sis Nasim Walji Pirmohamed
